Great work Russ. I recall hearing you and Rodney do 'I Was Only 19'. It was terrific, and very moving. Because of my brother John's involvement in Vietnam, I understand to a limited extent how significant an event it was in peoples' lives. Thanks for sharing it with us all and good on you for describing it so well.

Very moving to hear your story Russ - as a 'newby' to the group I find this project fascinating and a great way to get to know people. Organising the songs for StB and The Sea of ukes is quite a task especially given those 'last minute chord changes' of which I am guilty. I remember the disdain that was showed to returning soldiers from Vietnam. That must have hurt and was totally misdirected - had the war gone another year or two I might have been among your number. Not a lottery I would like to be in. Thanks - the 'other' Russell

Russ we must be close to the same age, so many touch stones in your story but one enormous difference, my marble didn’t get picked out. I too loved Bob Dylan, especially Rainy Day Woman #12 & #35, initially because most people hated it. Thank you for everything you do to make StB such a well oiled machine.

Nice story Russ. If I was around your age, I probably would have enlisted. Thank goodness I am as old as I am. 36 yrs in the Police Force, I think I did my time too..... in a different way...
